…In Plateau State, this act has landed with unusual weight because of the state’in. The people did not vote blindly in 2023. In the presidential election, they demonstrated discernment by giving unprecedented topnotch support to the Labour Party. In the governorship election, they accommodated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) based on a state-level local calculations, expectations and the overriding desire to end genocidal gangster killings of Christians by Islamist Fulani jihadists often warped as insecurity; the outcome was threatened by the risk of litigious loss but was preserved by mercy. In the state cum national assembly parliamentary elections, the people again displayed political sophistication by distributing power in a way that reflected balance and vigilance. This was not confusion. It was maturity.
That maturity is now asserting itself again…
