The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu Land has strongly criticised Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde (KWAM1) over a protest letter he wrote to Dapo Abiodun, alleging that he was unfairly excluded from the selection process for the next Awujale of Ijebu Land.
In the January 8, 2026 letter, written through his lawyer Wahab Shittu (SAN), KWAM1 claimed the ruling house issued directives that were not in line with Ogun State laws.
Reacting, Prof. Fassy Yusuf, Vice Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, dismissed the petition as “arrant nonsense”, insisting it has no relevance to the process.
> “Either Wahab Shittu is being misled, or Wasiu Ayinde is being misled. The concerns raised are illogical. We have over 20,000 members—how do you expect us to manage such a crowd?” he said.
He revealed that the family had already scheduled a nomination meeting for aspirants to the vacant stool.
The Awujale selection has reportedly attracted over 60 aspirants, including KWAM1, who has publicly declared interest. However, the ruling house maintains that Ayinde is not a member of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House and is therefore not qualified to contest.
KWAM1 had earlier approached the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode to stop the selection process, but the court dismissed the application for lack of merit. The suit was later withdrawn without explanation.
Following state government intervention, the ruling house suspended the process and resolved to restart it.
In a fresh letter to the governor, Ayinde also questioned the Ijebu-Ode Local Government’s approval for the process and expressed surprise that nomination notices were issued while preparations for a family meeting were still ongoing.
The nomination exercise has now been fixed for Monday, January 12, 2026, with delegates expected to emerge from a meeting held on January 10.
