A moral conundrum.
A group holds an annual business retreat in a town in Nigeria.
Before participants arrive, arrangements are made for accommodation, other logistics and after-event evenings. The last item is the icing on the cake for many participants.
Some young undergraduates from tertiary institutions around the town are arranged to provide good company for the night for any of the participants interested. Everything is very fine. Everything works beautifully according to plan.
In the morning of the departure, participants and their female guests congregate at breakfast to celebrate a successful retreat and to share the last communion.
The visitors come into the restaurant happily, most with their partners, pumping hands, sharing jokes, and exchanging banter and laughter.
Then a couple comes in. A happy grin on their faces. The noise suddenly starts to die down, gradually. Then, silence!
Agbako (not his actual name) is sitting and eating with his sidekick. He looks up and watches a young extremely pretty girl float into the room, leaning on the arm of one of his colleagues.. His mouth freezes. He almost starts to choke.
The young lady looks around the tables and suddenly her eyes rivet on him, his familiar face staring at her in shock. Mummurs ascend from the tables into the growing pregnant atmosphere.
FATHER, with a ‘babe’ beside him at the table, is staring at his DAUGHTER in the arms of his colleague…dead in her tracks, waiting for the ground beneath her feet to open up and swallow her.
3 gentlemen discus the possibilities of what happens next and the realities that confront Man with a lifestyle that is fun until it becomes a nightmare.
‘It’s a Man’s (Man’s) World’ this Thursday night, in front of an audience of Patrons of The Sports Lounge, from 8pm to 9:30 pm to x-ray not only a true story but the reality of the present times across the Nigerian landscape.
The show opens from 7pm with Afro/Highlife/ Jazz music by Emem (award-winning female Bass guitarist) and the Eagle7 band, plus electrifying freestyle dancing led by Slimzy (best female dancer in Ogun State).
