Change must come to Nigerian football.
It must start with the leadership of the organisation running it.
Fortunately, there is an opportunity to elect a new board in September when their tenure ends. Elections are being planned. There is agitation that the elections be delayed to allow for more amendments to the present statutes that do not reflect the genuine aspirations and ambitions of the Nigerian people.
The road to the elections is strewn with obstacles, challenges and begging questions. How can they be held guaranteeing transparency, balance, equity, integrity without room for manipulation and the sort of brazen corrupt practices that marked previous elections?
Many questions will be asked by the public and guest(s) that are still being sought from a crowd of administrators that are reluctant or afraid to raise their voices against an established power-block in Nigerian football.

Who are the primary constituencies of the NFA?
What is the place of State FA’s in the NFA statutes?
What are the issues with changing the name NFA to NFF?
Is the NFF an assembly of State Football associations, or are is it an assembly of several different Associations including State Associations?
What are the official responsibilities and mandates of State FAs in Nigerian football?
Who are the leaders in the State FA’s? Are they independent individuals, or are they already ‘captured’ in other constituencies like coaches, referees, club owners etc in the NFA?
What are the amendments that need be done for the elections to be transparent, authentic and acceptable?
Is an agency that occupies a prime place in the organising and funding of all sports and associations in Nigeria a ‘Third Party’ or a Stakeholder in FIFA’s statute?
All the probing questions that will make issues clearer for all Nigerians will be on the table of discourse in the morning. Any one interested in the current situation in Nigerian football must tune in!
