When an elderly man starts to dress and behave like a teenager, something fundamental is wrong somewhere that needs urgent attention. This is a direct call on the Christian Association of Nigeria, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, and the entire body of Christ worldwide. There is a critical need to start praying for Ayo Oritsejafor. Something is clearly not right with him, and we can either pretend that we do not see this, or continue to spiritualize it by claiming you must not call out a man of God.
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Pastor Wale Oke, and Bishop David Oyedepo all started out together as the protégées of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa. This means Papa Ayo Oritsejafor is in the exact same class as the top A-list pastors in Nigeria and across the world. He is a spiritual giant who has led millions.
However, his mode of dressing in recent years, and even right now, seriously calls for us to have him in our prayers. Psychologically and mentally, when a man of 81 years old is acting and dressing like a teenager, it is often called a severe midlife crisis or a manifestation of a deeper age-related psychological regression, sometimes linked to cognitive decline or trauma where a person subconsciously tries to grasp onto youth. He needs professional psychological evaluation, medical checkups, and a strong, supportive inner circle that cares more about his health than his image to step in and help him rest.
This is not an attempt to embarrass him or drag his name in the mud. This is a call to stand by our own before it is too late.
THE BRUTAL TRUTH WE ARE AVOIDING
We love to hide behind the phrase Touch not my anointed. But we forget that the anointed is still a human being made of flesh, blood, and a brain that can get sick. Standing by and watching a legendary 81-year-old general dress in skinny jeans, flashy teenage chains, and awkward youth outfits without asking hard questions is not honor—it is witchcraft. We are watching a father decline in the public eye and calling it swag or a personal choice. It is a lie. If this were your biological father at 81 acting this way, you would have taken him to a hospital or a private room for care, not put him on a stage.
WHAT THE WORD OF GOD SAYS
The Bible does not tell us to cover up obvious mental or physical struggles with fake spirituality. It tells us to be our brother’s keeper and to honor the elderly with dignity.
Leviticus 19 verse 32 says: Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God.
Galatians 6 verse 2 tells us: Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
James 5 verse 16 commands us: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
A CALL TO THE LEADERS OF THE CHURCH
This goes out directly to Pastor Adeboye, Bishop Oyedepo, and the leadership of PFN and CAN. You cannot look the other way while your colleague and brother behaves in a way that shows he needs help. True love speaks the truth in love. It is time to step in, get him the medical, psychological, and spiritual rest he needs, and protect the legacy of a man who gave his life for the gospel in Nigeria. Let us stop pretending. Let us pray for Papa Ayo Oritsejafor and get him the real help he needs.
