The 8th-Day Fidau Prayer for High Chief Kabiru Adeshina Oshodi
Olori Eyo of Lagos • Olori Eyo Laba • Alakete Pupa
Today, the family, friends, associates and admirers of High Chief Kabiru Adeshina Oshodi gather in solemn remembrance for his 8th-Day Fidau Prayer.
Eight days may have passed since his voice became silent, but the memories of his kindness, generosity, wisdom and devotion to Lagos tradition remain alive in the hearts of everyone whose life he touched.
For some people, death marks the end of their story. For a man of great honour and enduring impact, death only opens another chapter; one written in the memories of his people and preserved in the history of his community.
High Chief Kabiru Adeshina Oshodi was more than a traditional leader. He was a devoted custodian of the customs and heritage of Lagos, a respected elder of the Oshodi-Tapa family, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor and source of encouragement to many.
He carried the revered responsibilities of Olori Eyo of Lagos, Olori Eyo Laba and Alakete Pupa with dignity, courage and an abiding commitment to preserving our ancestral heritage.
Today, as prayers rise to Almighty Allah on his behalf, we remember not only the titles he held but also the remarkable life he lived.
We remember his cheerful countenance.
We remember his generosity towards those in need.
We remember his loyalty to his family, community and tradition.
We remember the respect he showed to elders and the kindness he extended to the younger generations.
We remember a man whose presence brought confidence, happiness and pride to those around him.
The white robe may have been folded, but the honour with which he wore it can never be forgotten.
The sacred staff may have been lowered, but the values he defended remain firmly standing.
The drums may be silent, but the echoes of his name will continue to be heard across Lagos Island and beyond.
As we observe this sacred Fidau prayer, we pray that Almighty Allah forgives all his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds and illuminates his grave with divine mercy.
May Allah make his resting place spacious and peaceful.
May He protect him from the trials of the grave.
May the angels receive him with mercy.
May his record be placed among the righteous.
May Al-Jannah Firdaus become his eternal home.
May Allah comfort his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and the entire Oshodi-Tapa family.
May He strengthen the great Oshodi-Tapa family and grant everyone the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
High Chief Kabiru Adeshina Oshodi may no longer walk physically among us, but his influence lives on in the traditions he protected, the people he supported and the lives he transformed.
A good man does not truly disappear.
He lives in the prayers offered in his name.
He lives in the hearts that remember his kindness.
He lives in the children and generations who continue his honourable legacy.
He lives in every story told about his service, leadership and generosity.
Today, we do not say that he has been forgotten.
We say that he has become unforgettable.
We do not say that his light has gone out.
We say that it now shines through the memories of everyone who knew, respected and loved him.
Eight days gone, but his legacy remains.
Eight days gone, but his name still commands honour.
Eight days gone, but Lagos still remembers.
