I just read this interview with Dele Momodu on Channels TV, and honestly, he is advising Rotimi Amaechi to calm down.
🎯 What happened
Rotimi Amaechi (former Rivers Governor and ADC presidential aspirant) recently slammed Atiku Abubakar, saying the former Vice President does not believe in zoning and that they should go to primaries. Reports suggest that some ADC leaders are pressuring Amaechi to step down for Atiku, but he has refused.
Now, Dele Momodu (Atiku’s ally and veteran journalist) has responded.
🤌 What Momodu said
He urged Amaechi to “cool his temper” and described Atiku as a formidable aspirant who would be difficult to beat.
Mr. Amaechi, in the name of Almighty God, should please cool his temper. A potential presidential candidate and possible president of Nigeria must watch his temper and temperament and does not need to attack Atiku.
🤷 My own take after reading
The ADC presidential primary is shaping up to be a battle between Atiku and Amaechi. Both are heavyweight politicians. Momodu is essentially telling Amaechi that attacking Atiku may backfire and that a president needs to have a calm temperament.
But is Amaechi’s frustration justified? If party leaders are indeed pressuring him to step down without a contest, that would be undemocratic. Amaechi has the right to run.
Either way, the ADC needs to handle its internal process carefully or risk the same implosion that hit ADC when Peter Obi and Kwankwaso left.
What do you think? 🤔
📌Do you agree with Momodu that Amaechi should cool his temper?
📌Should Amaechi step down for Atiku, or should they go to primaries?
📌Who do you think will win the ADC ticket?
