So Rt Hon Chibuike R Amaechi went on national TV yesterday and hinted that he was not going to step down for any candidate in ADC, neither did he buy the Presidential expression of interest form to become anybody’s #VP.
Lol.
But let us remove jokes and sentiments aside for a moment. So if African Democratic Congress eventually calls Amaechi to fly their Presidential ticket, will he truly honour it?
I honestly thought he was joking all along that he was only positioning himself for Atiku’s #VP because where exactly is he going to get the votes needed to deliver African Democratic Congress to victory?
I understand that Mr. Peter Obi is in the race because his organic support and popularity spreads like wildfire across the South, with the strong backings of the #Obidient and #Kwankwasiyya movements.
I also know that President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in the race because he controls a widespread APC structure across the nation, with the raw power of incumbency firmly in his hands and the backing of 32 governors.
I equally understand that Atiku Abubakar is still in the race because he is banking heavily on Northern sentiment as arguably the most popular opposition figure in the North and He is also qualified to be a president
Even Seyi Makinde is understood to be someone contesting with the advantage of incumbency as a sitting governor and the political structure of Oyo behind him.
Even Omoyele Sowore , as little as people may rate his contest, still has his #Revolution Now” movement that can fetch him pockets of votes here and there.
So I ask again, where exactly will Rotimi Amaechi get the votes to deliver ADC if given the ticket?
Because as we speak today, Amaechi cannot even confidently boast of securing 50 percent in Rivers State as long as Nyesom Wike is still in that political space, so where then will the votes come from?
At this point, I am genuinely curious.
