Many may have seen the viral video involving Lady Anyim Vera and the General Overseer of Dunamis Church, Pastor Paul Enenche.
Lady Vera was giving testimony in the church of the Lord’s goodness to her by making her the first graduate in her family. She said that she studied law at the National Open University and graduated recently.
I saw the clip and must say that for a law graduate, she did not particularly impress with her spoken English language. Perhaps this was what ticked off Pastor Enenche and led to his doubting her credibility. He then asked her what degree of law she had and Lady Vera in her own words responded, ‘B.Sc in Law’.
At this stage the Pastor got infuriated and commanded the lady to leave the podium.
Pictures have now come out confirming that Lady Vera actually graduated from National Open University. Her name also appeared in the school’s list of recent graduates .
Those blaming Pastor Enenche for doubting the lady and ‘embarrassing’ her should also spare a thought for the pastor. On the strength of evidence before him on the day of the incident, he had every reason to doubt her. She did not speak well and could also not defend her Bachelor of Law degree.
Could it be stage fright? We will never know but the lesson here is that if you claim that you are something, the burden of proof is always on you. This particular incident should be an eye opener for many ‘graduates’.
