Lee Edward Evans’s contributions as a coach to the development of athletics and athletes in Nigeria in the past 50 years is probably unsurassed in the country’s history.
In the USA and several other parts of the world he commanded legendary status. At his prime as an athlete he was regarded as one of the greatest and most famous athletes on the planet.
He then impacted the lives of a legion of Nigeria’s most successful athletes ovwr 3 decades through providing them a pathway to the best that America offered international athletes in terms of scholarship and sports.
He lived, worked, died and was buried in Nigeria. Yet, the country, still, is failing to appropriately appreciate and honour him as he truly deserves.
Probably, we forget who he was.
Now we are about to be reminded.
Other ‘gods’ , Olympic and World Champions, from the temple on ‘Mount Olympus’ the original home of athletics, shall assemble in the morning and join me LIVE on Eagle7 Sports to remind the world again about the greatness of Lee Edward Evans.
