Time was said to be around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2026.
Neighbors of Evangelist Abidemi Odukoya and his wife, Adenike, woke up to very strong arguments and domestic altercations.
He was the Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Dews of Heaven Parish (Iri Orun), Ogun State and lived with his wife right within the church premises.
The matter got really bad as Mrs. Odukoya was said to have sustained serious injuries to her head.
Following the incident, Evangelist Odukoya reportedly left the residence.
The couple’s son was said to have alerted neighbors, prompting members of the local Community Development Association (CDA) and other residents to rush to the scene in an attempt to render assistance. Mrs. Odukoya was however found unresponsive and subsequently presumed déad.
That is according to preliminary accounts obtained from community sources.
While all this was still going on that same day, around 6:00 a.m., information reportedly reached the community that the body of an unidentified man had been discovered around the Iyana Coker, Ifo axis of the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway.
CDA representatives who proceeded to the location identified the deceased as Evangelist Odukoya.
Some eyewitness accounts alleged that the evangelist had deliberately entered the path of an approaching vehicle. However, this remains an allegation and has not been independently verified.
It would be premature to conclusively classify his déath as súicide until the relevant authorities establish the circumstances through investigation.
Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force were subsequently reported to have intervened and commenced the appropriate investigative and procedural processes surrounding the deaths.
Mrs. Odukoya was reportedly buried at the family residence on August 25, while relatives of the late evangelist were said to be working with the relevant authorities toward the formal release of his remains for burial.
The tragic deaths of the couple have left members of their family, church congregation and the surrounding community in deep mourning.
As investigations continue, members of the public are advised against drawing definitive conclusions regarding culpability, cause of death or motive until the police and other competent authorities release their findings.
