Israel’s October 27 election has left both major political blocs short of the 61 seats required for a majority in the 120-member Knesset, according to preliminary results reported on October 28.
The Central Elections Committee’s partial count showed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc with 53 seats and Gadi Eisenkot’s opposition bloc with 48. Arab parties secured 19 seats, potentially giving them a pivotal role in efforts to form the next government.
However, political disagreements over cooperation with Arab parties could complicate coalition negotiations. With additional ballots still to be counted, the final outcome remains uncertain.
