According to a report by Vanguard News, on Sunday, August 23, 2026, renowned journalist and publisher, Chief Dr Dele Momodu, has restated his strong ties to Osun State, saying he remains an important stakeholder in the state regardless of who occupies the governorship position.
Momodu made this known while reflecting on his background, upbringing and relationship with the state.
He explained that his connection to Osun dates back to his birth and early years in Ile-Ife, where he spent his formative years and completed his education up to the master’s degree level.
According to him, he was born in Ile-Ife on May 16, 1960, just three days after the birth of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, whom he affectionately described as his “Twin Brother”.
Momodu explained that his father, Jacob Momodu, originally came from Ihievbe in present-day Edo State before relocating to Ile-Ife.
It was in Ile-Ife that his father met his mother, who was from Gbongan Olufi in present-day Osun State.
He said his parents eventually got married and had him as the only child of their union. Momodu described his parents as “prayer warriors”, noting that they raised him with strong values centred on love, contentment and spiritual discipline.
Reflecting on his education, the publisher said Ile-Ife played a major role in shaping his life and preparing him for his future career.
Momodu further stressed that his relationship with Osun State was not dependent on political affiliations or the person occupying the governor’s office.
He maintained that his status as a stakeholder in the state would remain regardless of changes in political leadership.
He also explained that his decision to support Governor Ademola Adeleke was based on his assessment of the governor’s performance rather than personal friendship or financial benefits.
The Ovation International founder added that people who wanted to take credit for Adeleke’s political achievements were free to do so, insisting that he was not interested in competing with anyone.
Momodu also pointed out that despite his long-standing relationships with influential individuals, he had never occupied a government position or been part of any administration.
The publisher also addressed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, advising him to remain calm and remember that power and wealth are not the only measures of life.
He said, “Mr Wike, cool temper. Life is not determined only by power and wealth. Remember tomorrow,”
