“Building Homes, Building Hope.”
✍️: COMRADE DELE GIWA.
During his remarkable tenure as Governor of Ogun State between 2003 and 2011, His Excellency, The Senator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), transformed the housing sector through visionary leadership and people-oriented policies.
*OGD’s administration prioritized affordable and modern housing development, ensuring that thousands of families across Ogun State had access to decent shelter and improved living conditions.* His government embarked on massive estate development projects in major towns, including Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu, Ota, Ilaro, and Ayetoro.
Under OGD’s leadership:
Modern housing estates were developed across urban and semi-urban communities.
Infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, electricity, and water supply were integrated into housing projects.
The Ogun State Mortgage Board was strengthened to make home ownership easier and more accessible for civil servants and residents.
Public-private partnerships in real estate development were encouraged, attracting investors into Ogun State.
Housing projects created employment opportunities for artisans, engineers, contractors, and youths across the state.
His administration believed that housing was not just about buildings but about creating sustainable communities and improving the quality of life of the people.
Today, many of the housing and infrastructural projects initiated during OGD’s era remain visible symbols of purposeful governance, foresight, and development-driven leadership.
OGD… A Visionary Leader with a Lasting Legacy-2003 – 2011.
