Festus Adegboye Onigbinde one of Nigeria’s most accomplished football coaches has died at the age of 88. The death of the Modakeke Osun State born football tactician was announced on March 9,2026.
He had an illustrious coaching career underscored with key accomplishments including taking the Super Eagles to the Final of the 1984 African Cup of Nations and guiding them during the 2002 World Cup hosted by Korea/Japan.
He also led the Shooting Stars of Ibadan , then IICC to the final of African Club Champions Cup, which they eventually lost to Zamalek of Egypt 🇪🇬.
