The Bill for an Act to amend the Federal Medical Centres Act, 2022 to provide for the Establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State; and for Related Matters, 2024 (SB. 514), sponsored by Distinguished Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has been successfully passed by the Senate and forwarded to the House of Representatives for concurrence.
This landmark development marks a major step toward strengthening healthcare delivery in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, and the entire Ogun East Senatorial District.
Once the parliamentary process is concluded and assent is secured, the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Ijebu Ode will:
– Improve access to quality and affordable healthcare
– Reduce pressure on existing tertiary health institutions
– Create employment opportunities for medical and non-medical professionals
– Boost economic activities within the host community
– Enhance medical training and specialist services in the region.
