Five United States lawmakers have introduced a bill at the country’s house of representatives seeking to compel the secretary of state to submit a “comprehensive report on US efforts to address the ongoing religious persecution and mass atrocities in Nigeria”.
If the proposed legislation becomes law, the Departments of State and Treasury are expected to impose sanctions, including visa ban and asset freeze, on “individuals or entities responsible for severe religious freedom violations” in Nigeria.
The entities and individual listed for sanctions are Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano and national leader of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, and those described as “Fulani-ethnic nomad militias in Nigeria”.
In all of these indictments coming from USA law makers, where are our own laws makers who are paid with our tax payers money? Where are those who are collecting salaries for the responsibility of protecting the people?
Honestly, the institutions of governance in Nigeria are dead. The people we call rulers are simply ruiners. Black Africa is largely a shithole because of these kind of politicians we have in high places in Nigeria. People who are totally cut off and mindlessly detached from the plight of their citizens.
Over 200 human beings were mindlessly butchered and burnt in a state in the same country, national assembly members do not consider it as something that worths their attention.
****Government in its real meaning, truly do not exist in Nigeria.
