In a major step toward expanding access to quality education, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) of Education District III, Mr. Olusegun Olawale Osinaike, has successfully facilitated a strategic partnership with the Council Leader of Itire/Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Agbeyangi Olaoluwa Andre, to provide a robust scholarship scheme for students and youths within Education District III.
The initiative, which was officially unveiled during a sensitisation visit, will enable 500 beneficiaries to access significant financial support for their academic pursuits at Grace Polytechnic.
As part of efforts to bridge the Financial Gap under the scholarship scheme, successful candidates will receive up to 85% tuition fee coverage, aimed at easing the financial burden on students from indigent backgrounds. Hon. Agbeyangi described the initiative as a deliberate investment in human capital development, emphasising that many capable students are unable to further their education due to financial limitations.
“This initiative is our way of giving back to society,” Hon. Agbeyangi stated. “By alleviating financial constraints, we are not only encouraging academic excellence but also taking concrete steps to reduce the dropout rate among our youth.”
As a proven model for educational advancement, Mr. Osinaike said the initiative was drawn from his experience of facilitating a similar and successful scholarship programme during his tenure at Education District IV, adding that the intervention will ensure that students in Education District III are equally afforded such life-changing opportunities. Despite the District being outside his immediate jurisdiction, Hon. Agbeyangi approved the request in the interest of inclusive youth development.
Representing the TG/PS at the event, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Olalekan Rufai, expressed deep appreciation to the Council Leader for his magnanimity.
“On behalf of the students and youths of Education District III, we assure you that this opportunity will be maximally utilised. I encourage all eligible candidates to seize this rare privilege, as opportunities of this nature do not come often,” Mr. Rufai remarked.
