Foluke Stella Osafile, a first-term lawmaker representing Amuwo-Odofin Constituency I, has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Osafile, who chairs the House Committee on Wealth Creation, is the only opposition member in the 40-seat Lagos State Assembly. She confirmed her defection, stating, “Yes, it is true. I have defected to the ADC,” but declined to disclose her reasons.
Osafile won her seat in 2023, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Folorunso Olaitan Segun. Her victory was initially contested by the APC, but she successfully reclaimed her seat at the Court of Appeal ¹ ² ³.
She will formally announce her defection during a plenary session, saying, “Don’t worry, I will announce it during plenary soon”.
