Lagos police are cracking down hard on crime in Ikotun. Over the weekend, officers from Ikotun Division swooped in on a notorious armed robbery gang that’s been terrorizing residents.
On Dec 6, 2025, four robbers on two motorcycles stormed a barber shop at Liasu Road, Egbe. They shot up the place, trying to snatch phones. When Adeniyi Timileyin refused to hand over his iPhone 14 Promax, they shot him in the leg. He’s now getting treatment at Igando General Hospital.
Outraged locals chased the robbers, caught two, and were about to lynch them when police arrived just in time. The officers rescued the suspects and seized a Bajaj motorcycle (LSR 945) used in the heist. Two robbers escaped with a locally-made gun.
One suspect, Sunday Olarewaju, confessed they’ve been targeting Ikotun/Igando, stealing phones and valuables… and killing victims when needed.
The case moves to Lagos State Command, Ikeja, for more digging. The DPO, CSP Waheed Adebisi, was out on patrol when we tried to reach him. PPRO SP Abimbola Adebisi didn’t pick up our call.
The quick response shows strong police-community teamwork in Ikotun, thanks to CP Moshood Jimoh’s strategy.
