President Tinubu was joined by Justice Kumai Bayang Akaahs (rtd), Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, Mrs Lillian Oghogho Musa (Wife of Christopher Musa), Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio , NSA Nuhu Ribadu and Bishop Kukah.
Speaking moments after taking the oath, General Musa said his priority is to strengthen coordination across the armed forces and security agencies, insisting that security is everybody’s responsibility.
He said President Tinubu has charged him to ensure Nigerians can “sleep with their eyes closed,” return to their farms and send their children to school without fear.
His appointment comes a day after a heated Senate screening where he rejected negotiations with armed groups and criticised the reintegration of former Boko Haram fighters, calling instead for tougher penalties and more funding for military operations.
General Musa replaces Mohammed Badaru, who resigned due to ill health. His appointment returns the federal cabinet to 48 members.
Meanwhile , Bishop Kukah, who attended the ceremony, said the job is “in good hands,” adding that restoring normalcy “by any means possible” must now be the national priority.
