At 67, Ola was a man known for his quiet strength and tireless work ethic. A Nigerian living in London for over three decades, he had built a modest life for himself working in the hotel industry. Reliable, respectful, and deeply rooted in his Yoruba values, Ola had one dream left—to find love and build a home in his later years.
He returned to Nigeria and met her—a beautiful woman in her early 30s, intelligent, ambitious, and from his own tribe. To him, it felt like fate. He courted her earnestly and spared no expense to bring her to London. When she arrived, she told him she wanted to study law. Ola didn’t hesitate. “You will go to school,” he promised. “I will take care of everything.”

Ola wore his best suit, excited and proud, until she turned to him with a look he will never forget. “I’m filing for divorce,” she said flatly. “You’re not in my class anymore. I’m a lawyer now. And you can’t stop me.”
He thought it was a cruel joke. It wasn’t. She left him, just like that. No children. No marriage. No gratitude. No goodbye.
The man who once had hope in his eyes now finds comfort in the bottle. His coworkers stopped seeing him. His life unraveled.
