following a three-week manhunt. The successful raid followed intelligence sharing between NDLEA and its Angolan counterpart over an attempt by the cartel leader, Ubodoeze, to export a large consignment of cocaine concealed in vehicle propeller shafts to Angola.
The move led to the seizure of the consignment at a logistics company in Aspanda, Trade Fair Complex in Ojo area of Lagos. Swift contacts were made with Angolan authorities, which in turn, arrested the supposed recipient of the illicit drug in Luanda. Afterwards, identity of the sender was unravelled.
Ubodoeze, an automobile spare parts dealer in Ladipo Market in Mushin, was tracked to his house in Ago Palace Way in Isolo, Lagos, where he was caught in a KIA Sport Utility Vehicle trying to escape.
Exhibits recovered from him included a large quantity of phenacetin, a cutting agent for cocaine weighing 75.5kg packaged and branded as semolina. Ubodoez.”
