Ambassador JK Adebola Mcicn Mnim, the official EFCC Ambassador in the Diaspora, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Mr Ola Olukoyede, and his dedicated team for their foresight and commitment to monitoring and tracking public funds. Their diligent work is a critical step in curbing economic crimes and ensuring that allocated resources are expended strictly for their intended purposes.
During a recent engagement at the EFCC Headquarters with a leading Civil Society Organization (CSO), Chairman Olukoyede emphasised the necessity of enhanced oversight over grassroots allocations. He stated,
“We need to monitor allocations going to the grassroots, and we have started that already. We have a department called Fraud Risk Assessment and Control that closely monitors and tracks payments, contracts, and other releases to ensure that funds are expended on what they are meant for.”
Ambassador Adebola lauded this initiative as both timely and transformative.
“The establishment and active operation of the Fraud Risk Assessment and Control unit marks a significant milestone in our collective fight against economic malpractices. By meticulously tracking payments, contracts, and other financial disbursements, the EFCC is not only enhancing transparency and accountability but is also sending a clear message to those with sticky hands that misconduct will not be tolerated,” he remarked.
The Ambassador further highlighted that these robust measures are instrumental in restoring public confidence in managing national resources.
“This proactive approach will serve as a deterrent to any attempts at financial misappropriation, ensuring that every naira is accounted for and reaches the grassroots communities as intended. It portrays EFCC’s relentless pursuit of justice and integrity in public service,” he added.
Ambassador Adebola called on all stakeholders within Nigeria and internationally to support the EFCC’s mission to safeguard the nation’s finances. “We must all stand together to promote ethical governance practices and to support initiatives that ensure public funds are used for the common good,” he urged.
In conclusion, Chairman Olukoyede and his team’s commendable efforts represent a forward-thinking stride towards eliminating corruption and fortifying Nigeria’s financial framework. The Ambassador’s office remains fully committed to partnering with the EFCC to build our nation’s transparent, accountable, and corruption-free future.
