Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, a former minister of education, has said that the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and the Nigerian Judiciary have the common sense to realise that all of Nigeria is watching the outcome of the election petitions currently before the Presidential Election Tribunal.
Dr. Ezekwesili went on to say that she values an independent judiciary as the most precious part of our constitutional system. She went on to say that the rule of law is essential to our democracy and that we must have a court that is not subject to the whims of the political establishment.
This was revealed in a Tuesday morning tweet from the ex-education minister’s verified account.
Surely the Chief Justice of Nigeria and our Judiciary have the common sense to comprehend that #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary means that All Nigerian Eyes are on them,” she tweeted.
To me, an impartial court is the most precious aspect of our democratic republic.
Our judicial system must be free from political influence in order to uphold the rule of law, which is essential to our democratic system.
