According to police, Stokes paid for the delivery using a counterfeit $50 bill. The delivery driver reported the fake money, and Richmond County deputies responded.
Stokes was arrested shortly after 2:00 a.m. Monday, Dec 29, and charged with theft by deception. Stokes was booked into the Richmond County jail.
Later that same day, authorities discovered Stokes had an outstanding warrant in Columbia County for failure to appear in court. Stokes was transferred and booked into the Columbia County jail Monday evening.
Two booking photos taken the same day showed different appearances. In Richmond County, Stokes appeared wearing a wig, makeup, and long eyelashes. In Columbia County, Stokes appeared without them. Both booking records identified Stokes as male.
Jail officials said removable wigs are required to be taken off during booking. Richmond County officials said they are reviewing why the wig was allowed in the first mugshot.
