I received an unusual ‘gift’ from Mr. Benson Ejindu tonight. He is the Patron of Enugu Rangers International Football Club in the USA.
I met him 7 years ago.
He invited me to the 40th anniversary of Rangers Football Club’s Africa Cup-Winners Cup victory in 1977, when the club made history by winning their first ever continental trophy. They did so at the expense of my own club, Shooting Stars International FC, Ibadan, defeating us after two epic football matches that can go down as, probably, the biggest club matches in Nigeria’s football history.
The supporters of Rangers International FC in the USA, led by Benson Ejindu, invited me to the anniversary event in Houston, Texas, to recall and tell the story of those encounters before an audience of some 400 former Rangers International Players, supporters of the club in the USA and friends of the Club in America.
Last night, Benson Ejindu, dropped in again, and dropped into my lap a copy of that unscripted speech that night, 7 years ago.
It is rather long, but worth listening to…..for historic purposes.
I have Mr. Ejindu’s permission to upload it here.
Pls Share if you have the patience to listen to this ‘Sermon in Houston’.
