Veteran politician and community leader, Chief Joju Fadairo, has formally announced his resignation from partisan politics. The declaration was made on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, during a world press conference held at his private residence in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Abeokuta.
Chief Fadairo, who has played an active role in Nigeria’s political landscape for several decades, described the decision as “purely personal” and emphasized that it was not influenced by external pressures. He explained that after years of service at both state and national levels, he felt it was time to step aside and take a well-deserved rest.
> “I am convinced that I have made my contributions and fulfilled my obligations. I believe the time has come for me to step aside, in line with the timeless saying that there is a season for everything,” he said.
The respected statesman expressed gratitude to his family, political associates, supporters, and the media for their unwavering support throughout his career. He further declared that, effective immediately, he would no longer be affiliated with any political party, pledging instead to serve as “a father to all” while maintaining neutrality.
Chief Fadairo also noted that his retirement from politics would allow him to devote more time to his community and traditional responsibilities as the Asiwaju of Ifoland and Fiwagbayi of Egbaland.
In closing, he extended his best wishes to his political associates, affirming his commitment to continue working for the progress of Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
