Iran says it will not impose tolls on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, but will instead charge fees tied to maritime navigation services and environmental protection measures in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said the charges would be linked to safety operations and environmental monitoring rather than direct transit tolls.
