Mr. Stanley Osifo, widely known as Chief Stanley Osifo or Osifo Osayamen Stanley, is a 50-year-old international businessman-turned-politician who hails from Oluku Ward in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria.
His foundational education began in Benin City, where he attended Payne Primary School and Edokpolo Grammar School. He later proceeded to Lagos State University (LASU), where he earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Christian Religious Studies.
Professionally, Osifo established himself within the private sector as an international entrepreneur and trader, dedicating his career to improving productivity and operational efficiency across various private market interests before transitioning into the national political arena.
Osifo’s political trajectory is marked by a persistent ambition for the nation’s highest office, initially emerging during the 2019 election cycle.
At the age of 42, he entered the political scene as a presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), successfully purchasing the party’s twelve-million-naira nomination form, though he ultimately did not advance past the primary stage.
By the 2023 election cycle, Osifo had shifted his allegiance to the All Burgers Congress (APC), intimating party executives in Edo State of his intention to run, though the ticket was ultimately secured by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Undeterred, Osifo officially declared his intention in April 2026 to contest the APC presidential primary ahead of the 2027 general elections, running an independent campaign focused heavily on governance reform and accelerated economic development.
His campaign culminated in the APC nationwide direct presidential primary election, which concluded on Saturday, May 23, 2026, across the country’s 8,809 wards. Running as the sole alternative candidate to challenge the incumbent, Osifo faced a formidable party structure that heavily favored President Tinubu. The final collation of results revealed a landslide victory for President Tinubu, who polled 10,999,162 votes, while Mr. Osifo secured a total of 16,505 votes nationwide.
Following the official announcement of the results by the primary election committee chairman, Pius Anyim, Mr. Osifo demonstrated democratic sportsmanship by publicly conceding defeat, releasing a statement that affirmed his loyalty to the party and stating that he accepted the electoral outcome in good faith.
