A political storm has erupted after a group claiming control of the #Obidient Movement announced the removal of former presidential candidate Peter Obi from its structure, in what it described as a sweeping internal reset of leadership.
At a heated press briefing in Abuja, the faction declared that Obi’s influence within the movement had been completely dismantled, alongside the expulsion of his close ally, Yunusa Tanko.
The group further announced the total dissolution of all structures linked to Obi’s camp, insisting that individuals appointed under what it called an “unauthorised leadership arrangement” after the 2023 elections had been stripped of authority.
In a controversial twist, the organisation also unveiled a rebranding exercise, changing the name from “#Obidient Movement” to “#OBEDIENT Movement,” claiming it was necessary to reclaim the original vision of the group and distance it from what it described as political misuse.
