A police source has clarified the recent mass transfer of 695 personnel from the Zone 2 Headquarters in Lagos, stating that the decision has come to stay.
Sahara Reporters, in a report, quoted the affected officers of warning that the decision to transfer them violates public service regulations and could undermine security ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The officers also called on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Disu to intervene and halt the transfer.
However, a credible police source told the Lagos Monitoring Team that the decision to transfer the officers has come to stay and that no blackmail or threat will force the police management team to rescind it.
The source described the tactics of the affected officers in publicly attempting to resist their transfer as an affront that may attract investigation and possible disciplinary measures.
The source stated that the mass redeployment of officers out of Zone 2 aligns with the objective of ensuring adequate personnel at police stations where they are truly needed.
“To attempt media pressure to force the police management team regarding their legitimate transfer is an affront. It will be investigated, the source said.
