The attention of concerned stakeholders across Ogun East Senatorial District has been drawn to the recent endorsement of Governor Dapo Abiodun by a section of APC leaders from Remo and Sagamu divisions for the 2027 Senate race.
While we respect the constitutional right of individuals and groups to freely associate and express political preferences, it is necessary to set the record straight and prevent the distortion of political realities within Ogun East.
The said endorsement, largely driven by a limited circle within Remo and Sagamu, does not and cannot represent the collective will of Ogun East Senatorial District, which comprises nine (9) local governments with diverse stakeholders, interests, and political structures.
A sectional endorsement is not a district-wide consensus.
Furthermore, credible information available to stakeholders indicates that the gathering was predominantly an assembly of political appointees and loyalists of the current administration. It bore the character of a pre-arranged, informal meeting, rather than a broad-based consultative forum — raising legitimate concerns about its intent, inclusiveness, and credibility.
There is a growing perception that such “endorsements” are less about genuine democratic consultation and more about political positioning and access to patronage, rather than the true interest of the people of Ogun East. Consequently, the public is advised to treat the claims and narratives emanating from such gatherings as misleading and not reflective of the wider electorate.
In contrast, credible engagements and consultations across all nine (9) local governments have continued to produce a clear, consistent, and overwhelming alignment in support of His Excellency, Senator Gbenga Daniel (OGD), as the preferred choice for the Ogun East Senate seat in 2027.
This growing support is not accidental. It is anchored on:
Proven leadership and administrative competence
A track record of impactful governance
Broad-based acceptance across Ijebu, Remo, and the entire Ogun East
Demonstrated commitment to equitable representation and sustainable development
Unlike politically orchestrated endorsements driven by proximity to power, the momentum behind OGD reflects organic consensus, grassroots confidence, and district-wide credibility.
We therefore caution against attempts to:
Misrepresent a localized endorsement as a general mandate
Create false impressions of unanimity where none exists
Substitute structured, people-driven support with staged political declarations
Ogun East deserves a Senator who embodies experience, inclusiveness, and the capacity to deliver at the national level — not a project of selective promotion.
As the political process unfolds toward 2027, we reaffirm that:
the mandate to represent Ogun East cannot be determined by a fraction, but by the collective will of the people.
Stakeholders, party leaders, and constituents across the district remain resolute in their support for a candidate whose legacy, reach, and competence stand tested — Senator Gbenga Daniel (OGD).
The path to 2027 must be guided by fairness, credibility, and the true voice of Ogun East.
