Adamu Atiku Abubakar ,Son of former Vice President and Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress ADC PARTY Atiku Abubakar has resigned his position as Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa State.
Though he hinged his decision on personal reflection and careful consideration in his letter of March 2,2026, observers believe that his exit from the administration of Governor Umar FINTIRI after seven years is a direct consequence of the Governor’s defection from the People’s Democratic Party PDP to the All Progressives Congress APC some days back.

Today, I formally announced my resignation as Honourable Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Adamawa State, after the privilege of serving for seven years.
Serving in this strategic capacity has been one of the most significant honours of my public life. I am profoundly grateful to His Excellency, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Executive Governor of Adamawa State, for the trust, confidence, and rare opportunity granted to me to contribute meaningfully to the infrastructural and energy advancement of our dear state. I remain appreciative of his leadership and the support extended to me throughout my tenure.
I express heartfelt gratitude to my parents, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar and Hajiya Titi Atiku Abubakar for their moral guidance, prayers, and blessings, which strengthened me throughout this journey of service.
My sincere appreciation goes to the Permanent Secretaries of Works and Energy, the directors, engineers, and the entire staff of the Ministry for their professionalism, resilience, and dedication to advancing critical infrastructure across the state. Together, we worked with commitment and purpose in the interest of our people.
I am especially grateful to the great people of Jada for their steadfast prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support during my time in office. Your faith and solidarity have meant more than words can express.
This decision does not mark the end of my commitment to public service. Rather, it signals the beginning of a new phase of broader developmental engagement and continued contribution to the unity, growth, and progress of Adamawa State.
I remain steadfast in my loyalty to the shared vision of a stronger and more prosperous Adamawa..
