The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has officially announced the commencement of recruitment for 50,000 new police personnel, following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The announcement, released on Thursday, December 11, 2025, stated that the recruitment drive is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national security, enhance community policing, and increase manpower across the force.
Eligibility Requirements
According to the PSC, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth
Age requirement:
18–25 years for General Duty applicants
18–28 years for Specialists
Must be physically, mentally, and medically fit
Minimum height requirement for General Duty:
1.67m for males
1.64m for females
Academic qualifications:
General Duty: Minimum of five credits in SSCE/NECO or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.
Specialists: Minimum of four credits and at least three years of relevant professional experience.
