I can see that all of you have been beaten, warned and threatened to go out there and “fight them” 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Sorry, it was my error, it was actually 1,500 roads that needed a listing.
Only lazy people do lame arguments like this. DA is the Governor of Ogun State today and it is his records of office that we are examining. You had your fair share of criticizing OGD while in office, and today he is no longer the Governor of Ogun State, you also have the opportunity to look into his records now officially, or where he misrepresented on any claims to Ogun State citizens.
Neutral people are reading through your excuses for a government that they themselves can feel and you thought you are doing the government any good with deflections when you have every good opportunity to showcase achievements with proofs.
@Dare, you as a person should know better even if your Data Boys don’t, that public engagements like this are all very good opportunities to advance the causes of your principal with facts instead of only abuses. It shows some kind of Complex each time you drag in someone who has served the State as Governor 16 years ahead of the man who is paying your salary now from the Ogun State purse.
Come to think of it, forget about bad roads, why has it been so difficult for the present government to disclose the official figures and the amount it is awarding contracts. And the process* I noticed that each time anyone speaks around this subject, there is a frenetic activity to deflect the discussion. What exactly is happening? *The airport is now ready and running, and I say, a big congratulations to Ogun State for this win, and I also ask, how much does it cost? How was it paid for? And what is the plan for running it? What are the Business projections around it?
These to me are very harmless questions that should be on the tip of anyone’s fingers.
I cited an example here with a proof of publication, the Income and Expenditures of the Ogun State Government between 2003-2011. *And I say in the entire 8 years between 2003 and 2011, the total amount acruable to Ogun State (in terms of IGR, Federal Allocations, Signature Bonuses, etc) is approximately N336b.* Out of these, workers salaries were paid, TASUED was built, four other ICT Polytechnics; Saapade, Itori, Igbesa, Ijebu Igbo. Gateway Petro-Gas Institute, Oni in Ogun Waterside was built, three Stadia; Ijebu Ode, Sagamu and Ilaro were built and the one in Abeokuta was renovated; NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp was built; market was built in Ajilete Yewa and Sagamu; hundreds of students were sent on scholarships abroad under the HUCAP scheme; OGEGEP was created, OSAMCA (that offered Microcredit loans to farmers and small scale businesses), Oke-Ilewo-Lalubu road was built, the RIYE Roundabout was created while Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu road was dualized; the multi campus system of the OOU was activated with College of Agriculture established in Aiyetoro, College of Engineering in Ibogun, College of Health Science in Sagamu.
I also say, without any fear of contradictions, that the 40km Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu road was constructed at N1.9b and not awarded to any foreign contractor; the money was paid in instalments of N100m every month to OGROMA. The road was a single lane and in very dilapidated conditions before it was dualized with 999 street light poles which were all fabricated by welders and locals in Ogun State and supervised from the Ogun State Works Yard at Quarry road around Agbeloba in Abeokuta. The scope of the contract included building new red brick houses for those whose old mud houses were affected by the Right of way, and the cost of building those new houses were included in the contract sums of N1.9b.
This is how I think a responsible government should attend to public requests about its accountability and transparency instead of all these childish abuses here and there.
*The budget of Ogun State in 2025, as rumoured to be over N1.05 trillion (that amount is three times the total income of Ogun State between 2003-2011). Now, what the citizens are simply asking is a Justification for this amount. What exactly and how much are being spent on this and that? I think it is the simplest economic question that I have seen or read in my entire life. No one is even asking for a Balance Sheet of the expenditure yet, just list and tally with figures.
