Once again, Rivers State has gifted us with another episode of Political Theater, starring Governor Sim Fubara and his newest antagonist, Dr. George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service turned chief storyteller. In this latest plot twist, Dr. Nwaeke claims he was right there when Governor Fubara personally funded the burning of the State House of Assembly. Not just that—he attended secret meetings where the governor allegedly pledged his loyalty to the PDP Governors’ Forum chairman for 2027.
Yes, you heard that right. The man who once balanced the state’s books with precision suddenly decided that arson and political conspiracy should be executed in broad daylight—with a witness list, no less! Who knew transparency in governance would extend to criminal activities?
But wait—Dr. Nwaeke says he saw a bag of money handed over but didn’t know how much was inside. Was it naira, dollars, or monopoly money? He won’t say. Why? Perhaps, as Head of Service, he wasn’t given access to the full criminal budget. Or maybe he was just there to admire the bag.
And then there’s the question of hierarchy. Since when did the Head of Service become a full-fledged member of the kitchen cabinet? Did he also serve the tea at these highly confidential meetings? More importantly, why didn’t he mention the former Secretary to the State Government—who is Governor Fubara’s known ally? Selective memory, or is that revelation reserved for season two?
Meanwhile, Dr. Nwaeke’s wife claims her husband isn’t himself, while the good doctor insists she’s under duress. This scandal has more plot twists than a Nollywood blockbuster. Why was he not picking her calls? Who was he hiding from?
One day he’s exposing grand conspiracies, the next, he’s checking into the luxurious Nicon Hotel—quite the upgrade from begging for money not long ago. One must wonder: Who is financing this new lifestyle? Who is driving this ride, and more importantly, who is fueling the car?
Rivers State has officially become a mystery box. Every time you think you’ve figured it out, another character emerges with a new tape, a fresh accusation, and an even bigger question mark. At this rate, we might as well start selling tickets.
