The police service commission has approved promotion of 27 senior police officers.
The officers include 11 commissioner of police, who have been promoted to the rank of Assistant inspector General of police, and 16 Deputy commissioner of police elevated to the rank of police commissioner.
The 11 commissioner of police promoted to Assistant inspector General of police are: Umar Nadada,commissioner of police, Nasarawa state, Mustapha Bala,commissioner of police River state, Abayomi Oladipo,commissioner of police Ondo state, Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke,commissioner of police Swat,FCID,Abuja,Ibrahim Abdullahi,commissioner of police Kaduna state and Nwonyi Emeka, commissioner of police, PPP, DLS, force Headquarter, Abuja.
Others are: Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, commissioner of police Ekiti State, Zubairu Abubakar, commissioner of police, courses police staff college, Jos, Fom Joseph, commissioner of police, Homicide, FCID, Abuja, Emuoba Ekokotu, commissioner of police, Admin,Air wing, Abuja and Garna Yusuf, Deputy commandant, police staff college, Jos.
The 16 Deputy commissioner of police are: Ibrahim Gotan, Kayode Ojapinwa,DC, SCID, FCT, Emmanuel Ighodalo, DC, ZCID, zone 8, Lokoja, Bose Akinyemi, DC, SEB, FCID Annex, Lagos, Barayimil Samaila, DC, DFA, kogi state, Martin Nwogoh, FDC, DC, DFA, Zone 2, Lagos, Shetima Mohammed, DC, SCID, Nasarawa state, Ibrahim Got an,DC, DFA, zone 2 , Bauchi, Rabiu Mohammed, DC ops zone 3, yola, Olugbenga Abimbola, DC, SCID, Ekiti State, and Adepoju Adewale, DC, ops River State.

This was in a statement on Monday by the PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, that the newly promoted senior officers were at the corporate headquarter of the commission on December 16, 2024, where they all underwent both written and oral examination.
According to the commission chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) stated that written and oral examination would henceforth be a prerequisite for promotion in all cadre of the Nigeria police force.
” He said that officers of the Nigeria police force must continuously strive to improve themselves and adopt global best practices, including proficiency in ICT ” he said.
