The usually rough looking fellow claims is learned but couldn’t decipher activism from criminality. He has a notoriously bloated ego that makes him forget he is not above the law; always bouyed by hordes of fellow nitwits who are bereft of proper understanding and workings of the law. Time to put to rest the controversies sorrounding defamation law in Nigeria. Freedom of speech is indeed a human right guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution. However, what is not guaranteed is freedom after the speech depending on how wise or foolish you chose to be in the course of exercising your right and freedom. Also, the choice of how to pursue a defamation case whether criminal or civil; is strictly determined by the law and the level of pain and reputational damage done to the complainant resulting from the act of defamation and the best way it can be assuaged. Anyone or group of person suggesting otherwise are just mischievous interlopers of low repute who have nothing to protect in their names.
