The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, this evening, hosted the cream of the Nigerian Theatre at the Lagos House, Marina for the official announcement of the Lagos International Theatre Festival, LITF.
Scheduled to hold from 14th to 17th November, the Lagos International Theatre Festival, LITF is a vibrant extravaganza, that would run in four venues across Lagos.
This International Theatre Festival aims to celebrate and promote the richness of Nigerian and African theatre by providing a platform for local and international artists to showcase their talents.
The festival seeks to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary theatre, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration.
According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, the Government is intentional about investing and promoting the creative industry. The sector, the Governor said, will be a catalyst for economic growth, social and behavioral change as well as veritable source of image laundering for Nigeria.
He said his administration is working towards a stage where events in the creative sector would be calendarised such as it is done in other advanced countries.
Other dignitaries at the event are the Founder of LITF, Mrs. Bolanle Austen-Peters, Chairman of LITF, Dr. John Momoh, former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Mr. Donald Duke and Mr. Yemi Idowu among others, who came out to support the event.
