OPEN LETTER TO MR. BAYO ONANUGA, SPECIAL ADVISER TO PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU ON INFORMATION AND STRATEGY.
Dear Mr. Bayo ONANUGA,
TODAY’S REALITIES AND HISTORY AS TOMORROW’S JUDGE:
A RESPONSE TO MR. BAYO ONANUGA
ON STATE HOUSE PRESS STATEMENT ON ATIKU ABUBAKAR (August 6, 2024).
Over and against the “information” you are peddling in State House Press Statement and the “strategy” you have deployed to stand TRUTH on it’s head, it is my incurred obligation to let you understand that your principal Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the greatest beneficiary of the Goodwill of the Nigerian people for the past ten uninterrupted years both as the former governor of Lagos State, the Chieftain of All Progressive Congress and, by a diminutive electoral default, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Again, to threaten to build the Nigerian system into a Police State and then turn around to deploy the State Security to intimidate the masses and suppress legitimate agitations and Dissent is the meaning of Anarchy and Tyranny.
And when you add up these to the corrosive events of corruption and terrorism that have invaded and destroyed the institututions of government beyond repair, then it becomes very clear to you and to all how insensitive and greedy a human being you principal is.
It would be an understatement to say that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a poor and ugly advertisement of whatever he professes and represents. His Presidential Broadcast, last Sunday, tells the story of an ingrate and an overarching pretentious ambition that courts and celebrates Tyranny at the expense of our hard won Democracy.
I am convinced that “TRUTH” or “REALITY” is one and unchanging.
Traditional Igbo culture, for example, holds a vast vault of truth which it has never ceased to regard as sacred and to propagate.
Each age or generation does not only have the right but is also imbued with the obligation to evolve LEGITIMATE and VALID VEHICLES through which it conceives, expresses, propagates, preserves and transmits truth.
None of these vehicles is absolute.
Times and events can even render them obsolete. For instance, the beautiful pages of the Book of Genesis hold such unchanging, incontrovertible and solemn moments of truth about faith, about obedience, about sacredness of life, etc. But what kind of man in his right senses in modern Nigerian society would entertain such thoughts like the one that made Abraham pick up his son Issac to go and kill? That such may have gone unnoticed in any modern Igbo village of yore does not make it any less a murder in today’s society.
The tragedy of a stereotype is that it breeds and rejoices at a kind of dementia that takes “REALITY” or “TRUTH” hostage, makes it stand on its head and then compulsively brings everybody to accept that such tangential and vandalized lumps are nothing but the whole truth or the whole of reality.
It is the danger of CREEDAL FIXATIONS – something akin to what one adorable woman Chimamanda Adichie would term “the Danger of a Single Story”. And it is this kind of dementia or other of its kinds that creates Boko Haram out of the political parties, religions (including but not limited to Islam, Christianity and the Traditional Religions).
Nothing should prevent rational men and women from distinguishing between a convinced and committed Yoruba Muslim from a terrorist and jihadist one,; between a good Hausa/Fulani Muslim and an ISWAP terrorist; between a practicing Igbo Christian and a bible-wielding vampire.
