African Action Congress presidential candidate in February 25th election, Mr Omoyele Sowore has reacted after the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed a 400-level student of University of Ibadan Miss Orire Agbaje into tax reforms committee.
Miss Orire Agbaje and other members of the Committee, headed by a tax and fiscal policy expert, Taiwo Oyedele, were inaugurated by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday evening.
It was reported that Miss Orire Agbaje is the President of The Tax Club, University of Ibadan (UI), and also the President of the Nigerian Universities Tax Club.
Reacting via a Twitter post on Wednesday morning, Mr Omoyele Sowore slammed Nigerians who are upset over her appointment as a member of the Tax reforms committee because she is an undergraduate.
The human rights activist said many Nigerians now know that Miss Orire Agbaje is a student and know her school, course of study and level as opposed to most of the politicians running the nation.
Mr Omoyele Sowore also said Nigerians don’t know the names of schools or courses of study of most Nigerian Senators, and many of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s newly appointed ministers.
“Read somewhere this lady here (Miss Orire Agbaje) with President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was appointed to a “Tax Committee” and some are upset that an ordinary student was given appointment, well, unlike so many Senators, even and recently so many of his President Bola Tinubu’s ministers, we at least know this young lady is in school and we know her school, course of study and level as opposed to most of the politicians running Nigeria today, no one could truly tell you where they went to school. Most of them don’t have “level.
