In a move to prioritize the well-being of Nigerians, President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate review of the N8,000 conditional cash transfer program aimed at providing support to vulnerable households. This directive was communicated in a letter read on the floor of the House of Representatives last Thursday, regarding the previous administration’s $800 million loan request for a social safety net program.
The President’s commitment to putting Nigerians at the heart of his policies and programs was reiterated by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, Dele Alake, in a statement on Tuesday. Alake emphasized that the conditional cash transfer program was just one component of the comprehensive relief package initiated by President Tinubu.
In response to the concerns expressed by Nigerians, President Tinubu emphasized the need to review the conditional cash transfer program. This decision reflects the President’s willingness to listen to the views of the people and ensure that the relief measures implemented align with the needs and aspirations of the Nigerian populace.
Furthermore, President Tinubu has directed the immediate unveiling of the entire government’s palliative package. In a show of solidarity and support for farmers and households across the country, the President has also ordered the prompt release of fertilizers and grains to approximately 50 million farmers and households in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
