Daniel Bwala: If you look at Tinubu appointments so far, you can see that the Igbos are neglected

In the recent weeks following his inauguration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has undertaken a series of appointments. However, Nigerians are eagerly anticipating the announcement of ministerial appointments to fill his cabinet. Lawyer Daniel Bwala, a member of the PDP, has voiced his concern, alleging that President Tinubu has neglected to include the Igbo people in his appointments thus far.
Lawyer Bwala emphasized that the President has the authority to form a committee comprised of individuals he intends to collaborate with. However, he also highlighted the significance of the principle of Federal Character as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution. According to this principle, no particular group or ethnic tribe should feel marginalized or excluded by the Federal Government in its decision-making processes and actions.

In his words: “According to section 14 of the constitution, subsection 3 talks about the government of the federation and that it must be run in such a way that it will reflect the principles of Federal Character. So that there is no dominance of a section, or a people, or a group in the government. So he needed to do more to convince the people. If you look at Tinubu appointments so far, you can see that the Igbos are neglected. An all-inclusive government is fundamental to stirring what we call National loyalty. And for you to command the loyalty of the people, you must make decisions that win their hearts.”
