The Former Governor of Ebonyi State, Senator Dave Umahi has alleged that the South East Senators have all agreed to support Senator Godswill Akpabio to be the next Senate President. Senator Dave Umahi said in an interview with Arise Tv that all the South East senators agreed that they had only wanted the Presidency.
He stated further that the Senate Presidency is not a priority for the region and that they are all pulling their weight behind the Akpabio ticket. According to him, the President had played a major role in getting support the Senators’ support for Senator Akpabio.
He said, ”The All Progressive Congress forum leader have met and our leader Governor Hope Uzodinma also arranged a meeting with all the South East Senators. And all the South East Senators agreed that we only wanted the Presidency seat at a point and that we don’t need the Senate Presidency. And the household is with the Akpabio/Barau ticket. And also the former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is working for this ticket, all for the National interest. So we are coasting to victory but let me say there is no victor and there is no vanquished. We are all members of the same family.”
