Cross River State governor, Prince Bassey Otu on Thursday evening, paid condolence visit to the family of late former Senate President, Dr. Joseph Wayas in Abuja.
Otu’s visit to the Wayas’ family home in Asokoro in Abuja comes in the wake of the arrival in Nigeria, of the body of the former Senate President after almost three years of his death.
Otu said his visit was to mourn the late icon, identify, condole and reaffirm his unwavering support to the family of the late elder statesman.
The governor who condoled with the wife of the late former Senate President, Mrs. Ishaka Wayas and her children, regretted the protracted home coming of the body and pledged the late icon will get a befitting burial.
While joining the family to receive the governor at their home, convener of the Who is who forum of Northern Cross River Papa DC Enamhe was full of praise for the governor for being the pillar behind the success of the return of the body of the former Senate President and one time acting President Senator Joseph Wayas.
Other prominent cross riverians who were present during the governor’s visit include: Hon Cletus Obun, Ntufam Bar Fidelis Ugbo, Mrs Greg Ngaji, Mrs Cate Agba-Ajibike, Dr Mrs Stella Odey Ekpo, Dr Godwin Agaga, Mr Buniface Ejagem Adie, Chief Amele, Chief Hycient Iwambe and a host of other sympathizers.
Earlier in the day, notable visitors to the family house of Dr Joseph Wayas included Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, Sen Eteng Jonah Williams, Rt Hon Mike Etaba, Hon Peter Akpanke and Hon Godwin Ofiono among several others.
