Former President Goodluck Jonathan has spoken about an incident that took place in the Senate on January 23, 2008, when David Mark was the Senate President.
In a video shared by Channels Television, Jonathan said while Senator Nuhu Aliu, a former DIG of Police, was speaking on the floor of the Senate, he stated that he could see several people in the senate who were criminals he had investigated.
Jonathan said Aliu did not explain why those senators he was referring to were not jailed despite his investigations. However, he added that Aliu was still speaking when the then Senate President, David Mark, stopped him from continuing
In Jonathan’s words: “January 23, 2008 when David Mark was the senate president something happened in the Senate. One senator who was a former DIG Nuhu Aliu, he represented Niger North Senatorial District, but before retiring he was in charge of Forces Criminal Investigation Lagos.
And he said on the floor of the Senate that looking around the senate he has seen so many criminals who he investigated. Although he didn’t tell us why he did not jail them but to be fair to him he was still talking when the senate president stopped him from talking”
