Veteran journalist and Ibadan chief, Lekan Alabi, has died at 76. The Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland passed away in Lagos. .
The Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi, was a distinguished journalist, respected historian, and senior chief of Ibadanland. He also served with distinction as Chief Press Secretary to several former governors of the old Oyo State.
He passed away on Saturday in Lagos at the age of 76.
His death is a monumental loss to Ibadanland, the Yoruba nation, and everyone who had the privilege of learning from his vast knowledge and wisdom. Oloye Alabi was a walking encyclopedia of history and culture, as well as a role model and mentor to many of us.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
He will be greatly missed.
