The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged presidential aspirants Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen to pursue any complaints arising from the party’s presidential primary through internal party mechanisms and legal electoral procedures rather than public confrontations.
The party also said there is currently no evidence to support allegations that its presidential primary was manipulated in favour of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the clarification on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, amid growing debate over the credibility of the party’s ongoing presidential contest.

The ADC held its nationwide direct presidential primary on Monday to select its flagbearer for the 2027 general election. Although final results from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are yet to be formally announced, early figures indicate that Atiku is maintaining a lead, with former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen trailing behind.
Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen have questioned the integrity of the exercise, alleging irregularities and manipulation in favour of the former vice president.
Responding, Abdullahi said the party has not seen any credible evidence to validate or dismiss the allegations, stressing that the collation process is still ongoing.
“On the concerns raised by the aspirants, we do not currently have sufficient evidence to either support or dismiss those claims,” he said.
He maintained that the proper route for addressing disputes lies within the party’s established complaint procedures and recognised electoral frameworks, not through media exchanges.

“There are laid-down mechanisms within the party and within the electoral system for handling complaints and allegations of irregularities,” Abdullahi added.
According to him, results from several states have already been received, while collation from other parts of the country remains underway.
The ADC spokesman also downplayed claims by a rival faction led by Kingsley Ogga, which announced Dumebi Kachikwu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Abdullahi said the leadership bloc aligned with former Senate President David Mark remains unconcerned by the parallel development, insisting that the party leadership recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission is the legitimate authority.
“INEC knows who is conducting the lawful convention of the ADC, and under the law, the recognised organisers are clear,” he said.
He further disclosed that INEC officials had monitored the party’s congresses and primary elections nationwide, including contests for state assemblies, governorships, National Assembly seats and the presidential race.
As political manoeuvring intensifies ahead of 2027, the ADC’s presidential contest continues to draw national attention, with party leaders seeking to contain internal disagreements while preserving confidence in the process.
