As the political conversations ahead of 2027 continue to gather momentum, and as well waiting for the official pronouncement of candidates by the APC national headquarters it is important for leaders and stakeholders within our great party to carefully consider the implications of every political decision on equity, representation and sustainable development across Ogun State.
Today, Ogun West is strategically positioned with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) occupying the office of Governor, while Ogun Central is already represented by Senator Shuaib Salisu, a ranking Senator whose influence and legislative experience continue to attract relevance and opportunities to the district.
In the midst of this political balancing, it will amount to a great disservice to Ogun East Senatorial District if the zone is denied the opportunity of having a ranking Senator with the experience, national network and legislative capacity needed to sustain and accelerate development within the district.
The truth remains that ranking lawmakers possess stronger influence in committee assignments, budget negotiations, constituency interventions and federal projects allocation. Ogun East cannot afford to lose such strategic advantage at a time when competitive representation has become critical in national politics.
This is why many party faithful and concerned stakeholders strongly believe that Senator Gbenga Daniel (OGD) remains the most suitable and strategic choice for the Senatorial ticket of the party in Ogun East. Beyond political sentiments, OGD represents experience, institutional memory, leadership stability and developmental continuity.
His years of service, political network and legislative exposure place him in a vantage position to continue attracting federal presence and democratic dividends to Ogun East Senatorial District. Denying Ogun East the privilege of retaining a ranking Senator may slow down the developmental stride the district has steadily built over the years.
We therefore passionately appeal to the national headquarters of our great party, All Progressives Congress, to critically reconsider and support the emergence of Gbenga Daniel as the flag bearer of the party for Ogun East Senatorial District.
This is beyond personal ambition; it is about fairness, strategic representation and the continuous development of Ogun East.
